North Dakota Emergency Medical Services Association
February NDEMSA Newsletter
Hello ND EMS!
As I write this article to you, I find myself looking out my living room window. What I see is a whole lot of cold blowing snow. I am wondering how all of you are doing and hoping everyone is safe!
Last week I spent a couple of days at the capital and attended some committee hearings. I listened to testimony on a few of the bills we are watching and testified in favor for HB 1004 which is the ND State Department of Health bill. Though I do not know how the bill will fair, I am optimistic with how the day went.
We continue to monitor bills and take action as needed through our Advocacy Committee. The committee has been diligent with working alongside our lobbyist and speaking to legislators on various items.
I have been in contact with the NDEMSA Foundation committee and have been briefed that the plans for the Dale Severson Golf Scramble are in full swing as well as the 2nd Annual NDEMSA Foundation Tom Nehring Walleye Tournament is in the planning stages once again.
Giving Hearts is rapidly approaching so keep that on your radar. This will be a great event in conjunction with the American Heart Association.
EMS Day at the Capital was January 29th. There was a good turnout of various EMS personnel representing different squads from around the state. Thank you to those in attendance. It is always good for the House and Senate to put a face to ND EMS!
There are two more regional conferences coming up. SE Region Conference is this weekend February 1-3 in Jamestown and NE Region Conference is February 15-17. I hope to see you all there!
Stay warm and be safe!

Award Nominations Due March 1st
The North Dakota EMS Association's Awards Program was initially developed and is continuously evolving for two reasons. First, and most importantly, NDEMSA feels it is essential to take the time to recognize outstanding and meritorious service. There are numerous providers and services that go above and beyond the call of duty daily and it is our privilege to honor them.
Secondly, the Awards Program is vital to educating our communities and creating public awareness. It is important to showcase the heroes of our industry and make known the dedication and sacrifices made to ensure that emergency medical services are provided.
NDEMSA's Awards Program has three facets:
Regional Awards,Statewide Awards,Table of Honor
All awards deadline for submission is now March 1, both regional and statewide!
Regional Directors are elected between February 18th and March 4th and elected during the annual conference meeting. After the NE Conference, all active members will have a link sent to their email. The link is to an online voting site called Election Buddy. This is a secure, anonymous site that will allow you to vote for the directors in your area only, and vote for thepositions of the executive committee. To view the candidates' profiles beforehand, visit www.ndemsa.org/candidates.
The Election Buddy link will be sent to the email we have on file for you. If there has been a change of your email, please email your new address to ndemsa.office@ndemsa.org. If you do not have email, an absentee vote can be requested.
Voting will occur through a combination of online and mail voting methods as determined by the Board of Directors. A four (4) person committee will count votes, consisting of the election chair and three (3) additional appointed people comprised of the Election Committee and/or NDEMSA Board member.
If you have any questions regarding the new voting process or to see if you NDEMSA membership is up-to-date, please call Corrie at 701-221-0567.
